Carlos Sosa was one of the most modern and technically refined full-backs of his era. A right-back ahead of his time, Sosa blended defensive intelligence with a natural inclination to support the attack — a rare trait in the 1940s. He stood out for his excellent ball control, precise passing, and above all, his exceptional crossing ability, which made him a consistent source of assists from the flank.

A key figure at Boca Juniors, he helped shape the club’s defensive stability while also contributing to its offensive play, earning admiration for his composure and vision. Unlike many of his contemporaries, Sosa played with elegance and tactical awareness rather than brute force, which made him a model of the modern attacking full-back long before the role evolved into what it is today.

He is rightly remembered as one of Argentina’s finest early full-backs, a player who brought creativity and structure to a position often overlooked at the time.
