Legends Database

About this Project

Football has always been more than a game.

Behind every great player there’s a story worth telling, a career built over decades, a style that influenced generations, a name that deserves to be remembered properly.

This archive started as a personal obsession. One database, built manually, profile by profile. No editorial team, no funding, no algorithm deciding who matters.

Just research. Writing. And a genuine belief that football history belongs to everyone, not only to those who were lucky enough to watch it live.

What you’ll find here

Over a thousand profiles spanning from the early 1900s to the present day. Tactical breakdowns. Historical context. Visual reconstructions. All freely accessible, with no paywalls and no advertising.

Every entry is written from scratch, based on primary sources, archive material, and historical records across multiple languages.

Who is behind this

This project is maintained by a single independent researcher, with no institutional affiliation and no commercial backing.

It is entirely self-funded and built in personal time, out of a deep respect for football history and the people who shaped it.

No personal data is collected. No revenue is generated from the archive content.

Support the research

If this archive has ever been useful to you, or simply made you lose an hour going down a rabbit hole of football history, you can support the editorial work behind it.

Your contribution supports the research and writing effort — not any specific individual featured in the archive.
